0. Introduction - The Legendary League uses the following rules and regulations posted below, which is a direct copy of our rule book which is available on the Legendary League Discord under #rules. By participating in the league, you are acknowledging that you have read and fully comprehended the rules in their entirety.
Any questions you have regarding the rules and regulations can be submitted in the #rules-help channel on Discord, where your questions will be answered by one of our admins.
All rules are subject to change during the season under admin approval. If such changes are implemented, these changes will be openly communicated to the community.
0.1 General Behavior
0.1.1 - Any harassment or personal attacks found anywhere will result in a mute, suspension, or even potential ban depending on the severity. This includes, but is not limited to, any form of bullying, racism, personal attack, homophobia, and excessive use of offensive language.
0.1.2 - Spam of any kind will result in a mute. This includes any spam on any platform, such as Discord, Instagram, or Twitter.
0.1.3 - Private chats will not be made public unless all parties involved give permission.
0.1.4 - No external links are allowed to be posted unless given admin approval.
0.1.5 - Please be respectful when speaking to staff regarding any decisions. Any mistreatment of staff will not be tolerated.
0.1.6 - Every team name and player name must be appropriate. If asked by an admin to change your name and you choose not to comply, it may prevent you or your team from competing.
0.1.7 - Player names on Discord are expected to be the same as your name registered in the league.
0.2 Game-Related Behavior
0.2.1 - Any emotes that can be muted are allowed to be used freely; dancing and laughing are also allowed at all times. All-chat should be treated as any public chat sent on Discord; if the message gets you suspended on Discord, it will have you suspended from playing.
0.2.2 - Rosters of teams must be legal for the league tier the team is playing in. Captains are responsible for ensuring that their opponents are using legal rosters on game day. If an illegal roster is being used, do not play the game, and have your Captain message an admin directly to report the illegal roster in question.
0.2.3 - A team may only make substitutions before the draft of any game (e.g, you can switch players between games as long as the draft has not started). Players can not be substituted mid-game or after the draft.
0.2.4 - Whenever a new or reworked champion is released by Riot, the champion will not be available to play in matches until one week after the champion’s release or rework date.
0.2.5 - In order to participate in an official match for a Team, players must be on The Legendary League Discord and be properly registered on that team. It is up to the team’s Captains to check that all of their players are registered properly and that the members of the opposing team are likewise registered accordingly.
0.2.6 - The Legendary League does not have a specific day on which teams must play their matches. The team will play one series within a week that will be scheduled and agreed upon by the two Captains. Captains should be prepared to send communication logs in the event of a disagreement.
0.2.7 - Matches must be played five (5) vs five (5). If the initial five (5) players for each team are not present, please refer to the table below:
Time Late to Match | Punishment |
10 Minutes | First 3 Bans of Game 1 |
20 Minutes | Game 1 Lose |
30 Minutes | Forfeit |
Please note that this rule can be declined by the Captain whose team would receive the win if their team still wishes to play the match.
1. Eligibility and Player Ratings
1.1 Player Eligibility - All players must play on the account that is listed as the player’s main account on the roster sheet (unless given permission otherwise). Players must report all accounts that are level 30 or higher. If it is discovered that a player does not disclose all their accounts, both players and their Captain/Team will be punished.
1.2 Player Ratings/Rankings - All players will have the ranks of their accounts used to decide which division they are eligible for. If it appears a player has been rank-sitting, the admins are allowed to adjust what division they are eligible for.
- If a player has more than 150 solo/duo games played during both S14 Ranked Split 1 and 2, their rank will be based on their final ranks in Split 1 and current rank in Split 2.
- If a player has less than 150 solo/duo games played during both S14 Ranked Split 1 and 2, previous ranks will be taken into account.
- If a player has less than 50 solo/duo games during both S14 Ranked Split 1 and 2, their rank will be based on all final ranks from all seasons.
- A player’s account must be at least level 75 to be eligible.
Any player may be denied the ability to play if decided by an admin.
The chart below shows the max rank players cannot exceed upon signup

2. Divisions - The Legendary League will consist of two divisions of varying skill levels. These divisions are Platinum 4 Cap and Diamond 4 Cap. If your team has been accepted, you will hear back as fast as the admins are able to answer. Each team needs a minimum of 7 players (5 starters and 2 subs) on the roster - with the maximum number of players on a roster being 12.
2.1 Division Breakdown
2.1.1 - Each league will have the same regular season format. There will be a total of 20 teams in each division. The teams will be split into two equal-sized groups at random. The teams will play each other once in a best-of-three series.
2.1.2 - We cannot allow certain ranks in certain divisions if a player climbs an inordinate amount of time during the season. There will be a max solo queue rank put in place for the regular season.
This chart shows how high players can rank up once the regular season has started:
Division Name | Max Rank |
Platinum 4 Cap | Emerald 3 99lp |
Diamond 4 Cap | Diamond 1 99lp |
2.1.3 - Once the regular season has ended (your team plays its last regular season game), players on that team will have no rank cap and will be able to climb as high as they want.
3. Roster Changes - Substituting players is allowed as long as the subs are legal players by The Legendary League criteria. Captains need to announce the change of roster to the other team before the pick and ban starts.
3.1 - Registering New Players
3.1.1 - Teams can request to add a player to their roster at any point during the regular season. All player registration is done through Discord. Captains will be able to request any roster changes.
3.1.2 - Your request for a new player must be approved 24 hours before the player is intended to be used. Any request made less than 24 hours prior will result in the player not being allowed to be used until the 24 hours have passed (and have been approved by an admin).
3.2 - Dropping Players
3.2.1 - Player loaning between teams is not allowed. Players cannot leave team (A) join another team (B), and then return to the first team (A) in the same season.
3.2.2 - Teams cannot drop a player from their roster after the completion of the first half of the season.
3.3 - Name Changes
3.3.1 - All names must be appropriate and be communicated with admins.
3.3.2 - Name changes must be reported 24 hours before matches. Otherwise, the player will be ineligible for play.
4. Pauses, Disconnects, Remakes, Forfeits
4.1 - Pauses and Breaks
4.1.1 - If a player disconnects, the game can be paused for up to 10 minutes by each team (per game). If the pause surpasses the 10-minute limit for one of the teams, the game must be resumed and played out, or the offending team can forfeit the game.
Reasons for Pause
- Slow client load (client does not allow player into the game)
- An unintentional disconnection (power outages, wifi outages)
- Hardware or software malfunction (game glitch or peripheral disability)
- Physical interference with a player (broken chair, medical issues, or asked to take out the trash)
4.1.2 - Teams may not pause during a fight or right before a fight begins. Teams may not pause during combat. Both teams should confirm they are ready before resuming the game after a pause.
4.1.3 - Attempts to abuse pauses during games or break times between games are not allowed. Please contact an admin if the opposing team is taking an extremely long time.
4.2 - Disconnects
If you run into unfixable problems such as power or internet outages, please contact the opposing Captain and an admin. If the issue is deemed fixable, the game will not be remade or postponed. Pausing is allowed to be used in these situations, and you may pass the 10-minute time limit as long as both teams are in agreement.
4.3 - Remakes
4.3.1 - Unless both teams are experiencing major issues and both teams agree to remake the game, remakes will not be given. Natural disasters or life-threatening situations are the only issues where a remake will be allowed; if these occur, please contact the opposing Captain and an admin.
4.3.2 - Remakes are not allowed if a player incorrectly selects their runes or summoner spells.
4.3.3 - One remake per series (per team) is allowed if the jungler forgets to bring smite, but the offending team's players must bring the same runes and summoner spells in the remake.
4.4 - Forfeits
Teams are able to forfeit the game at any point before the game starts by notifying the opposing team. Once the game has started, teams may not surrender. A forfeit can be avoided by requesting your opponent to reschedule beforehand. Any request to reschedule must made no less than 2 hours before game time. Anything closer to the game is up to the discretion of the opposing Captain to request a forfeit.
Both Captains will have to speak to an admin about the issues surrounding scheduling if they would like a forfeit to be processed.
5. Game Format
5.1 - Voice Channels
All registered players must be in The Legendary League Discord with the proper naming. Teams must play in a Legendary League Discord voice channel for all matches. The voice channels are limited to 5 people. Coaches are allowed to help out in other voice channels for the draft, but once the game starts, all 5 players must move to a Legendary League Discord team channel.
5.2 - Field of Play
5.2.1 - All matches will be played on Summoner’s Rift.
5.2.2 - All regular season games and playoffs are played in a best-of-3 format. The finals will be a best-of-5.
5.2.3 - Team starters and their position order cannot be changed after the draft has begun. Teams must line up in the correct order within the lobby.
5.3 - Draft and Lane Swapping
5.3.1 - Players are not required to play one particular position for the whole season. It is proper courtesy to communicate to the opposing team which players will be starting in each position as soon as you know.
5.3.2 - Drafting will be done through the drafting website DraftLol.
5.3.3 - Players must line up in their intended positions; however, any off-meta strategies are permitted.
5.3.4 - You may not swap champions within 15 seconds or less in the pre-match countdown.
5.4 - Side Selection
5.4.1 - Side selection is determined between each team before the start of the first game. After the first game, the losing team will have side selection.
5.4.2 - Playoff side selection is determined by seeding. The higher seed has a side selection for game 1.
5.5 - Schedules
5.5.1 - Regular season schedules will have a set number of weeks in which the team must play one match a week. These matches should be played within the week that they are assigned unless both teams agree to push the game back to a later date. Both teams decide the exact date and time of the game. Each weekly matchup is distributed prior to the season.
5.5.2 - All regular season games must be played before playoffs start. If a regular season game is not played by the cutoff date, Captains should contact an admin. If no one contacts an admin, both teams will be given losses.
5.5.3 - Playoff scheduling will happen once all regular season games have been concluded and must be played within a week. If the game is not played, the team that was unable to play the game will be forced to forfeit.
5.6 - Playoff Qualification
The standings sheet for each league will denote the teams that qualify for playoffs.
5.7 - Tiebreaking Format
In the case of a tie between teams at the end of the regular season, the tie-breaker will be the head-to-head result between teams.
5.8 - Drop-Out Rules
5.8.1 - If your team is planning on dropping out, please have a Captain contact an admin and provide proof that all members of the team are consenting to dropping out of the league.
5.8.2 - Teams from the waitlist can join at any point in the season and will inherit the record of the team they are replacing.
5.8.3 - If no waitlisted team fills the spot of a dropped team, then every team in the group will receive a win, regardless of the actual results played against the dropped team.
